How can therapy aide athletes?
Shane has extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. His understanding in these schools of therapy allow him to address issues such as stress, pressure, anxiety, depression, and ADHD which all affect on-field performance. In addition, he can work with you to enhance relationships with teammates, coaches, parents, and within yourself. As a licensed clinical social worker, Shane has the skills and experience necessary to address the issues in daily life that impact your sport experience combined with an understanding of how to manage these issues in sport/performance settings.
Cognitive and emotional skills in response to injury
When athletes appreciate the biological, social, and psychological components to competition, they are then able to overcome major obstacles. Many obstacles occur after an injury. Learning emotional and psychological skills during your road to recovery is proven to speed recovery and reduce further injury.
